How do I store fridge free probiotics, are they stable?
For fridge-free, shelf-stable probiotics, please store in a cool dry place below 25°C, or refrigerate if you like. Prolonged excessive moisture and high heat will accelerate probiotic deterioration. High temperatures can kill probiotics, and exposure to temperatures above 46°C can increase the rate of loss rapidly, even for micro-encapsulated strains.
Why is the probiotic micro encapsulated?
Micro-encapsulation is a manufacturing process whereby the probiotic bacteria is coated with a thin plant based compound to protect the beneficial bacteria from heat and moisture degradation. The micro-encapsulation protects the probiotic and reduces the need for refrigeration.
