FAQs

Will magnesium glycinate cause diarrhoea or lose stools?

Magnesium glycinate is a bioavailable form of magnesium and is the least likely to cause diarrhoea, however excessive consumption of magnesium can cause unpleasant GI symptoms.

Always consult with your healthcare practitioner and report any reactions immediately. Recommended adult dosages are on the label.

Why is magnesium glycinate buffered?

In this ingredient ‘buffering’ means that an additional mineral is attached to the Magnesium glycinate to regulate the pH level of the formulation. A ‘pH’ level is a numeric scale used to specify the acidity in this circumstance of the absorptive surface of the intestine.

Studies have found that magnesium causes an increase in the pH of the GI tract. An increased pH may contribute to decreases in magnesium absorption. The purpose of the ‘buffer’ is to try and stabilise the pH to assist magnesium absorption.

Will I have an allergic reaction to Buffered Magnesium Glycinate™?

If you are a highly allergic patient follow the advice of your medical practitioner.

What are the Buffered Magnesium Glycinate™ capsules made of?

The capsules are made of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) which is 100% vegetable cellulose and suitable for vegetarians.

When is the best time of day to take Buffered Magnesium Glycinate™?

Magnesium can be taken in the evening with food to aid absorption.
