How do I administer Pro6-Infant™ to babies that are not eating solid foods?

There are a number of ways to administer probiotic powders to babies. You can mix the powder with breastmilk and administer with a feeding syringe or from a bottle if bottle-feeding. Another way is to put some powdered probiotic on a finger and let them suck. Alternatively, you can put the powder directly on the nipple or sprinkle it on their tongue.

Will babies react to the taste of Pro6-Infant™ and refuse to take it?

Pro6-Infant™ powder is generally considered tasteless, so it is unlikely that your baby will react to the addition of it in their milk or food.

When is the best time of day to administer Pro6-Infant™?

With infants ideally, probiotics should be taken with  feeding.

Can Pro6-Infant™ be taken while also administering antibiotics?

Pro6-Infant™ is believed to be compatible with most types of drugs, however always consult with your doctor regarding medications and interactions. If taken with antibiotics, Pro6-Infant™ should be consumed away from antibiotic doses thereby maximising its efficacy.

Can Pro6-Infant™ be taken by both pregnant and breastfeeding women?

Deciding on which probiotic to take while pregnant or breastfeeding is guided by the prescription of your healthcare practitioner. Your practitioner will know what potency will be most suited to your specific case. The probiotic strains in Pro6-Infant™ have been studied for safety in pregnant and lactating women.

What if infants present with bloating symptoms?

Mild bloating may occur during the first few days after starting use. This is usually due to the changing intestinal microflora. If you or your infant experiences bloating, you may need to reduce the daily intake to allow this adjustment.

If diarrhoea persists for more than 6 hours in infants under 6 months; 12 hours in children under 3 years; 24 hours in children aged 3–6 years; or 48 hours in adults and children over 6 years, seek medical advice. Drink plenty of water.

If symptoms persist consult your healthcare practitioner.

What happens if Pro6-Infant™ products are left at room temperature?

Pro6-Infant™ can be stored at room temperature (approximately 25°C) for up to two weeks without having a major effect on potency. If it is left at room temperature for longer periods of time or exposed to excessive heat, the number of beneficial bacteria can greatly reduce.
